Why not make exercise fun for students? Middle school, high school and college students all love technology and competition. VCycling has made consistent exercise a fun way to pass the time. Using interactive technology they can compete with fellow students beside them or anywhere around the world as they see and learn about exciting parts of the world.

123 StriveFit now features VCycling. StriveFit has retro-fitted the VCycling system for their facilities, creating a streamlined look and feel to hide wires and mount monitors. They've installed a projection screen and linked a set of bikes together for competitive racing. To enhance the users riding experience, a switching device was installed so that an individual rider can project their experience on the big screen as well. For more information visit In The Media for testimonial and press release.

VCycling has created a wonderful reason to visit your local fitness center. Have fun, socialize, see and learn about beautiful parts of the world either by yourself or along with your new friends as you ride on a comfortable bike specially designed for Seniors. It's safe and it can be as tough or easy a work out as you want it to be by shifting the gears. Also, no stress on weight bearing joints.
Churches have also begun to realize the importance of exercise. Youth, Adults and Seniors have been taking advantage of the new facilities in their community. For example, South Hills Bible Chapel in Peters Township, PA, has two VCycling bikes set up in the workout facility. Members can use the system as part of their daily exercise routine or just for fun.

VCycling is helping to fight the battle of childhood obesity. According to KidSource On Line, between 5-25 percent of children and teenagers in the United States are obese (Dietz, 1983). More recent information indicates that obesity among children is on the increase. Research has documented a 54 percent increase in the prevalence of obesity among 6-11 year olds (Gortmaker, Dietz, Sobol, & Wehler, 1987).

Obesity presents numerous problems for the child. In addition to increasing the risk of obesity in adulthood, childhood obesity is the leading cause of pediatric hypertension, is associated with Type II diabetes mellitus, increases the risk of coronary heart disease, increases stress on the weight-bearing joints, lowers self-esteem, and affects relationships with peers.

Causes of Obesity: Low-energy Expenditure
The average American child spends several hours each day watching television; time which in previous years might have been devoted to physical pursuits. Obesity is greater among children and adolescents who frequently watch television (Dietz & Gortmaker, 1985), not only because little energy is expended while viewing but also because of concurrent consumption of high-calorie snacks. Only about one-third of elementary children have daily physical education, and fewer than one-fifth have extracurricular physical activity programs at their schools (Ross & Pate, 1987).
Treatment: Physical Activity
Adopting a formal exercise program, or simply becoming more active, is valuable to burn fat, increase energy expenditure, and maintain lost weight. Exercise has additional health benefits. Even when children's body weight and fatness did not change following 50 minutes of aerobic exercise three times per week, blood lipid profiles and blood pressure did improve (Becque, Katch, Rocchini, Marks, & Moorehead, 1988).
VCycling's Contribution
VCycling is cooperating with school districts and community centers to attack the problem of obesity and lack of physical fitness in so many of today's youth. Our innovative virtual technology is used to change the traditional PE program into an exciting and vibrant approach that combines video and computer media with old fashioned exercise.
